I joined this experience for free as a tester through Partiful in exchange for my review. It was a lovely experience and I appreciated the host’s story of how she became interested in sketching, and the research she had done on the location.In the beginning, there was an orientation encouraging us to focus on what drew your attention, and at each stop, there were prompts to guide your sketching, which I found helpful. I appreciate that the group was kept small and intimate. At the end, we had a serendipitous chat with a longtime local couple who shared their stories on their history in the area.

Nick was a lovely tour guide. He’s super personable and goes out of his way to draw all the tour participants into the discussion - our 10year old was having a day and Nick was patient and kind to him. The pizza was on point and we got to try some places we have seen on YouTube as well as some we didn’t know - that last one was unexpectedly tasty! Would recommend if you want to get out of Manhattan and get into Williamsburg for a bit.

Such a fantastic time! Nick was an excellent tour guide and very knowledgeable of the area. The food was great (I am still thinking about the meatball sub) and the history and culture portions were incredibly interesting. It was a bit rainy the day I went so the turn out was a little low so I got to enjoy a practically private tour. Also I would highly recommend doing the brewery add-on, it was well worth it!

We had a great time with Nick in Astoria! We are regulars in the part of Astoria near the East River, but there's so much to explore and we never had gotten around to other corners. He took us to so many great spots, and knew the history of the neighborhood and the different communities who moved here. Each place we visited was wonderful and delicious, and was a family run business. What a pleasure to see Astoria through a new lens, and to learn so much about how the neighborhood was built!

What a fantastic experience. I got great shots and really got to know my camera. It was a cloudy evening but I learned that any type of weather can be advantage. The instructor was knowledgeable and experienced and really knew how to draw out my artistic side. Plus she had an answer to any photo questions I could throw at her, and it was also a lot of fun! A great way to spend an afternoon in the city! Nick was so knowledgeable about the history and culture of Brooklyn and selected excellent restaurants and breweries that really captured the essence of Bushwick. He knew the answers to all of our questions and also shared some great neighborhood recommendations that we explored after the tour.
