The townhouse at 18 West 11th Street became the site of one of Greenwich Village’s most shocking modern tragedies when it exploded in 1970 while members of the Weather Underground were building bombs inside. The blast killed three people, destroyed the home, and exposed the violent edge of political radicalism hidden behind a quiet residential facade.
