What a unique experience! I always wondered what I was like to graffiti but was too much of a polite teenager to get into it, this was a super fun way to live out some early rebellious dreams! It’s much harder than it looks, but our teacher was really helpful and chill. Luckily the day cleared up, it was fun to do part of the activity outside and the rest indoors. Large bodysuits were provided so as to not mess up clothes. Overall a very fun, out of the ordinary activity to try out. Special shoutout to our guide Laurene!

Alison’s passion for cooking authentic food from her home really shines through in the dishes she guides you through. I first met her on her Flushing food tour, where she introduced me to incredible local spots—and this class felt like a perfect continuation of that experience.I was surprised by how many fresh herbs go into Yunnan dishes—and even more impressed that so many came from her own garden. It added a depth and brightness to the food that made each dish stand out.Everything we cooked was unbelievably tasty—I kept eating long after I was full. I brought home leftovers, but the noodle soup didn’t last. I finished it that same night because it was just too good!

I joined this experience for free as a tester through Partiful in exchange for my review. It was a lovely experience and I appreciated the host’s story of how she became interested in sketching, and the research she had done on the location.In the beginning, there was an orientation encouraging us to focus on what drew your attention, and at each stop, there were prompts to guide your sketching, which I found helpful. I appreciate that the group was kept small and intimate. At the end, we had a serendipitous chat with a longtime local couple who shared their stories on their history in the area.
