Wow. Neal is a knowledgeable, passionate, and animated educator. My whole family really enjoyed this tour. Neal took us through history from the 1600s, when Harlem was home to native people, up to the recent decades of hip hop where stars rose literally from the streets of the neighborhood. Most of the tour centered around the Harlem Renaissance - Neal took us to many of the most famous landmarks throughout including the Apollo. I've been in New York for 2 years and this was a really great way to learn a lot about the significant role Harlem played in New York history.

This was truly a lovely day. We felt like we were walking around with the mayor of Harlem. His knowledge and enthusiasm is a beautiful thing.

We loved it and highly recommend it! Plus our tour group ran into two local celebrities, and our super tour guide introduced us, told us why they were each historically important and seamlessly wove their stories into the wonderful Harlem history he was telling us about.

Our tour guide was absolutely knowledgeable about his neighborhood. We appreciated hearing about his personal experiences living in Harlem. Meeting up with local residents was a plus. The tour, however, was not quite the Multimedia Harlem Renaissance tour I expected. First, there was no media except for photos on his phone. Second, I was hoping to learn more about the Harlem Renaissance, its important participants and its impact on NYC and on the country. We got a small taste of this info but I hoped for a deeper dive. It was a fun, interesting tour but not as academic as I wished for.

Awesome tour, very informative, we had a great time learning all about the history of Harlem. My son was able to play in the park and said he now feels like he’s a local.

It was awesome. The guide clearly has meaningful ties to the Harlem community and a deep understanding of its rich history.

Grew up in NYC during a time we were convinced to stay away from Harlem. OMG, what a loss. Harlem is so rich in fascinating history and so beautiful. The tour was fabulous. Lots of walking, but he paces it to the people who are in the group. Loved how we got to take photos in the exact places of iconic old photos. We are definitely booking a different tour when we are back in town. HIGHLY recommend.

Neal was a great tour guide, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Invited us to see the history and todays of Harlem. Glad to have had him as our guide & time and money well spent!PS. Remember to ask for the photos 😂 I totally forgot to ask Neal for the photos he took of the group.

Excellent eye opening tour provided by Harlem local. The tour guide (first name possibly Neil-can’t remember) was awesome! He also said he was Mr. Harlem. He loves the city and you can tell it with every step taken. He even kept my teenagers engaged with his fun facts and how he “took us back in time”. We even took an unexpected but yummy trip by Harlem Chocolate Company. He took time to try and get to know each guest also which made it very personal. Make sure to dress comfortably-a lot of walking, but so worth it! Highly recommend taking this tour.

Neal is an amazing guide - very knowledgeable and perfect storyteller. With his narration we could vividly imagine how history unfolded in Harlem.

While the tour guide was ten minutes late showing up he made up for it by providing a great tour. He was very nice and knowledgeable. He was accommodating to our schedule and preferences for what to see.

This tour was an awesome way to get to know the neighborhood through the eyes of a native. Our guide, Neal, was super knowledgeable about the area and open to questions from the group. I’d highly recommend it!
